In Your Arms by Erin Sloane Review- 4 of 5 stars

This book is absolutely wonderful. Ms. Sloane is able to accurately convey some of the responses of someone who has suffered sexual assault. In this book, we meet Marlo. Marlo is a sexual assault survivor, she is also the owner of a rescue facility for dogs. Next we meet Adam. Adam is a cop who is learning about the process from raid to the rehabilitation for fighting dogs, to take back to his home in New Zealand. This story focuses on Adam and Marlo's journey to each other, as well as the journey of Justice. Justice is a pit bull who has been rescued from dog fighting. He is turned over to Marlo for behavior testing. Justice is also the only surviving member of a raid that rescued 32 dogs. Needless to say, Justice is very important to a lot of people, and not all for the right reasons. The romance could have sucked in this book and I still would have read it just for Justice's story. Marlo learns how to love for the first time, and also for the first time, is not scared of every shadow with Adam by her side teaching her to cope. Adam learns to love again after the death of his wife. So will their love be able to stand it when his job is over and it is time for him to go back to New Zealand? Also, as a side note, it is my understanding that Book 2 in this series will focus on Justice. I can't wait to read his story.
